In appreciation of his significant contributions to the Pharmacy profession, the Clinical Pharmacists Association of Nigeria (CPAN) has presented an award of honour to the Managing Director of Pharmanews Ltd, Pharm. (Sir) Ifeanyi Atueyi.
The award plaque, which was presented to Sir Atueyi by the CPAN executives, at the Pharmanews corporate head office, in Lagos, on Monday, was part of events scheduled for the just concluded CPAN 2nd International Scientific Conference, held in Lagos.
Presenting the award plaque to him, the Lagos State CPAN Coordinator, Dr Arinola Joda, who represented the CPAN Chairman, Dr Joseph Madu, said the Pharmanews boss was one of their awardees at the conference, but they couldn’t present to him due to the timing of the gala night, which necessitated the presentation in his office.
According to her, “Our own Sir Ifeanyi Atueyi, was one of the awardees for our conference, but he could not receive his award plaque.
“So on behalf of CPAN, we have brought the plaque, conference bag and few of the conference materials for him”.
In his response, the octogenarian expressed his heartfelt appreciation to CPAN for considering him for the award. He described CPAN as the youngest of all pharmacy technical sections but the most vibrant in all their activities. He also underscored the importance of clinical practice in pharmaceutical care, urging all members of the association to keep expanding the frontiers of the practice in their various offices.
He said, “It’s my pleasure to welcome you, and I want to thank CPAN for considering me for this award. You must take my appreciation to the chairman, Dr Joseph Madu. One thing I have observed is that CPAN is the youngest technical section and the most vibrant among other technical sections. I have been connected with the first technical section of industrial pharmacists since 1978, the community practice and hospital practice, but CPAN is a special one.
“It is also important to say that clinical pharmacy is very critical today in all ramifications. As long as pharmaceutical care is practised today, what people are talking about is clinical pharmacy, because it is all embracing.
“And I thank you for the activities you have undertaken for these two years. It has been quite significant. One thing is leadership, you have worked hard and you are lucky that you have a wonderful leader. It is my prayer that when your tenure ends, the new set of leaders will continue with your good works”.
