The Pioneer Set of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan (UI) has donated a Coffee Shop building worth three million naira (N3, 000,000) for the use of staff and students of faculty.
Prior to the main event of the day, which was laying of the foundation of the Coffee Shop, the Faculty Pioneer Set in the company of the Alumni Association paid a courtesy call to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, UI, Professor A.B. Ekanola.
Speaking during the courtesy visit, the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, UI, Professor Oluwatoyin A. Odeku, officially introduced the Pioneer Set to the Vice-Chancellor, while appreciating the Alumni Association in general for their thoughtfulness in giving back to the faculty and by extension, the University of Ibadan. In his remarks, Prof. Ekanola expressed his gratitude to the old students for their support and reiterated that the Alumni Associations at the departmental, faculty and university level are stakeholders in the development of the university.
The Coordinator, Pharmacy Faculty Pioneer Set, UI, Pharm. (Mrs) Funke Akinniranye, thanked the management of the Faculty of Pharmacy and University of Ibadan for the warm reception accorded them. She said the set is made up of 25 members (9 males and 16 females), as she recalled how providence extended their graduation to February 1984, though they officially concluded their Pharmacy training in August 1983.
Other members of the team present at the event are: Pharm Olusola Porter, Pharm. Oluyemi Ogedengbe and Pharm (Pastor) Sola Oladiran.
Also appreciating the Pioneer Set, the President, UI Faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Association, Dr Olayinka Adeyemi said they have done well by laying a good example of giving back to the faculty that molded them into becoming who they are today. She specifically appreciated them for the donation of the Coffee Shop Building, which will further ensure that the students and staff of the Faulty of Pharmacy, UI will eventually be able to spend their break/lunch time within the faculty rather than looking for somewhere outside the faculty to buy quick meals during lecture breaks.
The Dean, in her closing remarks, thanked the Alumni Association of the faculty for the tremendous support. It will be recalled that the UI Faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Association made a presentation of a Toyota Sienna Minibus to the faculty on Thursday, 23 July, 2020.

Moody; former Dean of Pharmacy, UI; Professor A. Afuwape, Dean of Students, UI; and Professor S.O. Idowu, head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, UI.
