Alpha to Receive Independent Newspapers Retail Pharmacy Award

Foremost retailer of rare medications in Nigeria, Alpha Pharmacy, will on 4 May, 2024, receive the “Independent Newspapers Retail Pharmacy of the Year Award 2023.” This was disclosed during a visit to the corporate headquarters of the pharmaceutical company by a delegation from Daily Independent Newspapers, comprising the Editor, Mr Don Okere; the Managing Editor, Mr Kingsley Ighomwenghian; the Business Editor, Mr Sylvester Enoghase; the Health Editor, Mrs Chioma Umeha and the Editor, Saturday, Mr Austin Oboh.

Speaking on behalf of the Daily Independent team while presenting the letter of notification to the Managing Director, Alpha Pharmacy, Pharm. Ike Onyechi, Mr Okere noted that the award is in recognition of the leadership role Alpha Pharmacy has continuously played in the retail segment of the Nigerian pharmaceutical landscape. He also applauded the pharmaceutical company’s consistency in ensuring the availability of major ethical pharmaceutical products in the country. Okere also added that the award is mainly a reward for hard work aimed at inspiring a culture of excellence among Nigerian companies.

On his part, the Managing Director of Alpha Pharmacy, Pharm. Ike Onyechi, thanked the Daily Independent team for finding his company worthy of the award. He declared that reward for hard work translates to more work.

“This award will continue to spur us to work harder. We have received many awards in the past for our contribution towards improving the health of the nation. We have also intervened at critical periods in the Nigerian health sector when certain medicines were urgently needed. We shall continue to add value by doing uncommon things,” he said.

The award ceremony which will be held at the Eko Hotel and suites, Victoria Island, Lagos will be chaired by seasoned journalist and former Governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Oshoba.
